• Alt. Christening, !843. 7 Anna was baptized by her granfather, William ANDERSON in Pacaltsdorp. (Crossing the Cradock pass in those days was quite a feat; many trying journeys were made by the Andersons and Melvills. one of the Anderson daughters was actuaklly born on the summit of the pass and given the middle name "Cradocksia"! • Historical. 7 Anna was decidedly pro-British which was not surprising given her Scottish and English ancestry. She spoke good Afrikaans to the farm labourers and acted selflessly to improve their lot. A special bench was set aside in the farmhouse for "rondlopers" who knew they xcould receive food and kindness. Anna was a great reader and the home was full of English magazines. ![]() Anna married Henry William HELM, son of Rev. Daniel Johannes HELM and Johanna Maria Williamina ANDERSON, in Oudtshoorn, Cape Colony, Southern Africa.1 (Henry William HELM was born on Apr 25, 1836 in Zuurbraak, Cape Colony, Southern Africa 4 6, christened on Aug 14, 1836,6 died on Dec 3, 1923 in Riversdal, Cape Colony, Southern Africa 1 6 and was buried in Family Cemetery, Wyders River. 7.) |
