From an email dated 25 Aud 2009, supplied by Ritzena de la Bat Charlotte Helm was his 2nd wife.
"According to your family tree he was married to Charlotte Helm and had no children. "By her" would be correct. She was his 2nd wife. His first wife was Cecilia de Villiers . They had 5 children and all the de la Bat's in SA stems from this marriage. ( He was the only married son from an only son, Gerard Henry Guillaume de la Bat - the progenitor in SA.)
