• Alt Name. His alternate name is Kalmeijer
• Historical. I have had a similar conversation with Johan Hanekom (I think you may know him?). He told me that the Kannemeyer name was German and when Joachim Kannemeyer moved to SA, the Dutch possibly changed it to Kalmeijer, but it seems the name was used interchangeably. The only "proof" I have that this is so is that on a few of the websites when I do a search, it will bring up the name Kannemeyer with Calmeyer written next to it in brackets, which makes me believe that the surnames were indeed used interchangeably. Ditto van Ellewen and van Ellewee. I have also found spellings of this name Vanellewe and van Ellence. All the same family. They clearly weren't big on spelling back in the day! I don't believe in coincidence and i have found a record of a Johannes Calmeyer married to a Johanna van Ellewen and have seen a list of their children's names (see attached). I have seen the same list, but using the surnames Kannemeyer & van Ellewee and the children's first names were exactly the same & in some cases the birth dates were the same too. It just has to be the same people.
Bartholomeus married Marie Johanna COETZEE.
