• Historical. 1 George Shipman and his family were in the siege of Mafeking
and served under Baden Powell. Five sons were in the armed forces and two younger ones in the Cadet Corps. They ran messages between headquarters and various offices, forts and strong points,
for which they were awarded medals. The "original" Boy Scouts!
