| SERFONTEIN, Christiaan Jacobus
(Abt 1870-1940) |
SERFONTEIN, Christiaan Jacobus 1
• Historical. 1 Oipa Serfontein lived in Calitzdorp, Cape. He was an ostrich farmer and when the 1929 Wall street crashed, wiped out the feather market, the family moved to Kirkwood in the Sundays River valley and started to grow oranges. The farm was close to Port Elizabeth for exporting ease. Christiaan married Wilhelmina Christina VAN ANTWERPEN 8 Sep 1897(?).1 (Wilhelmina Christina VAN ANTWERPEN was born in 1870 and died in 1964.)
• Anniversary. 1 According to Pam Upton her grandparents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary whilst they lived in Grahamstown during the war. From a previous marriage date of 1897(?) this makes it 1947, confirming a close estimation to within 2 years. |
