• Occupation. According to his son's birth certificate, he was a Railway Shunter.
• Historical. In Allan Anderson's e-mail dated 16 Jan 2008 appears the following statements:- 1)Walter Charles was born out of wedlock in 1867, and in 1871 was living with his grandparents, Charles & Mary Charles in St Andrew, Lincs, and with his older brother Henry Charles (b.1862). Sometime after 1871 Walter moves to Heckington with his mother Mary and thereafter takes the surname of his stepfather Joseph Starbuck. 2) 1891 and 1991 the W.C. Starbuck family were living in a railway house in 25 Bond Street, Doncaster, with their children Thomas Sidney Charles (b. & d. 1892); Clara ('Cis', b.1894, d.c1980), Effie ('Eff', b.1896, m Basil Barker, d.1979) and Irene ('Rene', b.1900, d.1980). The youngest, Gwendoline (Gwen) (b. c1904, m. Lesley Greesby, d. Hampshire, 1985). All their children were born in Doncaster.
