A lot of the Rabone history can be found in the book "Records of a Pioneer Family" published by C. Struik of Cape Town in 1966. This is a compilation of shorthand letters between the Rabones' and Essex's in South Africa and London England, edited by my uncle Arthur Rabone - Ivy and Sidney's eldest son. The book is out of print now, but 2nd hand copies can still be found at places like AbeBooks.com - more commonly the South African branch. The writers of the letters are Alfred Essex Jnr., William Rabone and Harriet Rabone and covers the relationship between the Essex family and Rabone family.

This book also has an updated family tree showing the modern descendants of the Rabone/Edmeades marriage.
