• Alt.Name. At first I had understood that Janet's surname was LEITH but later I found a statement that she was born in South Leith, Midloyhian, Scotland.
This raises a serious dought that Janet's surname was Leith and I have therefore assumed that it is presently UNKNOWN and changed the record accordingly;

A later source gave her name as Janet Melvin daughter of David Melvin b.1735 and Jean Ballentine b 1735 and this has been now accepted and entered.

Janet married Harry Moolman in Leandra Transvaal South Africa.¹

Janet next married Thomas Melvill, son of Thomas Melvill and Margaret Reid, on Nov 21, 1780 in St George in the East.² (Thomas Melvill was born on Oct 10, 1758 in North Leith, Scotland, UK ², christened on Oct 19, 1758 and died on Mar 15, 1814 in Cape Town, South Africa ^{2 3}.)
