 Another name for Bartholomeus was Schonken, Bartholomeus Hendricus.
Events
• Historical. We have a DN iamge KAB MOOC 6/9/57 Ref 1247, signed by Engela Heigona (?) Van Niekerk, which gives a list of children which is plainly in error because it includes names of 3 people whose parents, as obtained from other sources, were also parents of the deceased.
The Engela van Niekerk who signed the DN was surely the spouse of the deceased but this was not mentioned in the notice. It is difficult to understand how such an error came about. (If indeed she made them!)
• Alt Birth. KAB MOOC 6/9/57 Ref 1247 states his age at death was 84 and he died on 22 Sep0 1837. This would make his birth date in 1753 whereas another source for Legacy gives it as 1767, a difference of 14 years. As there appears to be so many inaccuracies in the DN, I am inclined to accept the original source data which is based on a baptismal certification.
