4. Margaret Anderson (George3, George2, Thomas1) was born on May 23, 1717 and was christened on May 26, 1717 in Wagley, Newhills Aberdeen, Scotland.

• Historical: Family History Society, Sep 14, 2009, Aberdeen Scotland. 1 During a visit to the Aberdeen & North-East Scotland Family History Society in June 2006, I researched records of Births, Marriages and Deaths for links to my then known William Anderson b, Abt 1697 in Aberdeen and in the source labelled Newhills 226 I found several records of baptisms for names coinciding with known children of William Anderson as recorded in the pocket Bible of his grandson William Anderson of Griquatown (1769-1852). In this case the citation read as follows -

"26 May 1717, George Anderson and Margaret Taylor from Wagley, had a child baptised Margaret. Witnesses were James Jameson and James Head"

This coincides closely with the biblical recorded date of birth of Margaret of 23 May 1717, but in our family tree record, we had assumed that her father was William. However we have since ascertained that the Bible record does not record any name for the father, or mother of the 5 children. However when further records were found for the other siblings it becomes clear that the father was indeed George and not William and a possible reason for the error is advanced herein under his name. Assuming that this is acceptable, Margaret's newly found baptismal date and place are entered herein.

• Proofs: Sibling & Parent Connection, 1717, Wagley, Newhills Aberdeen. Note: James Head was the witness for both Margaret Anderson baptised 26 May 1717 and George Anderson bptised July 21, 1717.

5. George Anderson (George3, George2, Thomas1) was born on Jul 16, 1719,1 was christened on Jul 21, 1719 in Wagley, Newhills Aberdeen,1 and was buried on Dec 2, 1770 in Belhelvie, Aberdeenshire (Abode Cothill).

• Historical: 1 Reference the historical event recorded for sister Margaret, the citation reads as follows:- " 21 July 1717 George Anderson in Wagley had a child baptised named George. Witnesses Gilbert and James Head."

Note: James Head was the witness for both Margaret Anderson baptised 26 May 1717 and George Anderson bptised July 21, 1717.

• Historical Record: Aberdeen Family History Society, Sep 14, 2009, Aberdeen Scotland. Newlands Parish Reord Baptism reads quote -

Anderson July 21, 1719 George Anderson in Wagley had a child baptized named George. Witnesses were Gilbert and James Steads

George married someone.

His child was:

+ 9 F    i. Margaret Anderson .

6. James Anderson (George3, George2, Thomas1) was born on Apr 24, 1722 in Wagley, Newhills Aberdeen.

• Alt. Birth: Family History Society, Apr 24, 1722, Aberdeen Scotland. Biblical record of James ANDERSON was 11 September 1731 but this birth date could not be found in the Newhills Parish baptism microfische reords when Ralph Blyth Anderson and Edward Ralph Anderson searched the records in Aberdeen Sepember 14, 2009. But a reord was found that reads as follows -

"Anderson August 19, 1722 George Anderson in Wagley had a child baptized named James"

THIS IS THE MOSTLY LIKELY BIRTH DATE

• Alt. Birth: Sep 11, 1731. It is more likely that this biblical record is wrong since Ralph Blyth Anderson and Edward Ralph Anderson on Septeber 16, 2009 found the actual baptism record for James Anderson in the Newhills record

• Historical Baptism Record: Family History Society, Sep 14, 2009, Aberdeen Scotland. Newlands Hill Parish baptism quote -

Could not find baptism record for any James Anderson born 11 September 1931. This date which is in the biblical record is most likely a mistake. Not only could a record not be found but also the 1931 birth-year is not reasonable considering the age of George Anderson his father. Also an alternative actual date for the baptism was in fact found as follows -

"Anderson August 19, 1722 George Anderson in Wagley had a child baptized named James"

Entered by Edward Ralph Anderson, September 14, 2009. Proved during visit of same day to Aberdeen, Scotland with Ralph Blyth Anderson to the Family History Society and extensive search of their records.

7. William Anderson 2 3 (George3, George2, Thomas1) was born on Jul 14, 1724 in Aberdeen, Scotland,2 3 was christened on Jul 21, 1724 in Wagley, Newhills Aberdeen,1 died on Feb 26, 17892 3 at age 64, and was buried in Bunhill Fields, London.4

Death Notes: It has not been ascertained where William (1724) died, but is at present presumed to be here.

• Religion: 5 P26 of Source states that he was a Dissenter of the Independent Denomination and was burried in Bunhill Fields, the famous Non-Conformist burial ground in England.

• Occupation: 6 According to a scrapbook compiled by Alice Kitching, married to George Elliot Caldwall Anderson, there is a statenent by Maria Elizabeth Anderson that William was a silk merchant in partnership with Messrs Reid and Green in London.
Note that on the marriage certificate for William Anderson and Catherine Turner one of the witnesses was a Thomas Reid

• Historical: 1 Following on the Event recorded for Margaret, the citation found for William read as follows :- "George Anderson in Wagley had a child baptised named William. Witnesses: George Anderson and (illegible writing) in Salty(?) and Andrew Hace(?) Note that the witness, George Anderson, probably was William's brother or father.

• 0ccupation: 7 Check Date for transmission to Edward

• Historical: Aberdeen Family History Society - 2009, Sep 14, 2009, Aberdeen Scotland. Newhills Parish Record reads -

• Marriage: 8 IGI Individual Record MOO1611 (1754-1784) Source Call No. 0380147 for Catherine Turner gives her marriage to William Anderson on the 5 July 1768 and reveals the location of the marriage at Saint Botolph, Bishopsgate. London.
I located the Church near Liverpool Station in outside Bishopsgate and photos and a map are included herein.

• Occupation: England. 9 4 10 According to her son William at Pacaltsdorp, She was a talented artist, and was related to the famous English painter, Turner

• Historical: 5 P26 of source states that The great English landscape artist, Joseph Malford William Turner, was born in London on 23 April 1775. He was the son of a village barber, became famous and rich, and died in London on 19 Dec 1851, and was burried in St.Paul's Cathedral. The artistic talent later established by some of William and Johanna's grandchildren may be attributed to their illustrious artist relative.

A second source the Brainy Encyclopedia states as follows:-

J.M.W. Turner
Joseph Mallord William Turner, born in Covent Garden, London on April 23 (exact date
disputed)
1775, died December 19 1851. English Romantic landscape artist.
.. ..
His father WIliam was a Wig.
maker who later became a barber. The Grand Canal, Venice
His mother, Mary Marshall, a Painted 1835
housewife, became increasingly...,
mentally unstable during his early years, (perhaps in part due to the early death of Turner's younger sister in 1786). She died in 1804, having been committed to a mental asylum.
Since Catherine was born about 37 years before the Painter, and her family relation to him has still to be established, the possibility of subsequent generations from her being imbued with his great talent is somewhat tenuous, but cannot be discounted.

Children from this marriage were:

+ 10 M    i. Rev. + 15 F    vi. Catherine Anderson 4 was born on Aug 31, 1778,4 was christened on Sep 29, 1778,4 and died on May 18, 17814 at age 2.

8. Patrick Anderson (George3, George2, Thomas1) was born on Jun 15, 1726 in Wagley, Newhills Aberdeen and was christened on Jun 19, 1726 in Wagley, Newhills Aberdeen.1 Another name for Patrick was Patrick Anderson.1

• Alt Name: Peter, Jun 17, 1726, Newhills, Aberdeen, Scotland Chrstening Record. Record found for Patrick Anderson, son of George Anderson, Newhills, Aberdeen, Scotland for christening June 19, 1726. This is now confirmed by Ralph Blyth Anderson & Edward Ralph Anderson visit to Family Research Society records. The first name Patrick was used interchangeably with Peter at these times and it seems that Patrick was using the name Peter when it was entered in the bible record. The interchangeability of the name Peter with Patrick has been definitely confirmed by several of the experts at the Society.

• Birth Reference: Jun 19, 1726, Wagley, Newhills Aberdeen. 1 Again following the Event recorded for Margaret I found another citation that read as follows:- "19 June 1726 George Anderson in Wagley had a child named Patrick. Witnesses Patrick Anderson and Robert Chalmers." However the biblical record names him Peter, but the local staff at the Family Society thought that in Scotland the two names are frequently regarded as synonymous (like John and James) and this rendering was acceptable. It is also possible that the name was confused with that of one of the witnesses, also Patrick. However, whilst the baptismal date seems to identify him as the biblically named Peter, it and the place can be accepted with confidence, and perhaps Patrick recorded as an alternate name.

• Historical Baptism: Family History Society, Sep 14, 2009, Aberdeen Scotland. Newlands Bptism Record quote ;

"Anderson This day George Anderson in Wagley ad a child baptized named Patrick, witnesses were Patrick Anderson and Robert Chalmers"

Patrick and Peter were considered synominous
Patricks often became Peter

Patrick married Margaret Wight. Margaret was buried on Nov 21, 1747 in Old Machar, Aberdeenshire Parish Record.

• Burial: Nov 21, 1747, Old Machar, Aberdeenshire Parish Record. Pre 1855 OPR Burial Rcord searched September 15, 2009 Aberdeen records -

Burial Date 21 Novv 1747 Margaret Wight spouse of Petre Anderson, Abode New Mill, Newhills Parish. Parish Reord Old Machar, Aberddnshire
