2. Margaret Anderson (George1) was born on 23 May 1717 and was christened on 26 May 1717 in Wagley, Newhills Aberdeen.

Events:

• Historical: 1 During a visit to the Aberdeen & North-East Scotland Family History Society in June 2006, I researched records of Births, Marriages and Deaths for links to my then known William Anderson b, Abt 1697 in Aberdeen and in the source labelled Newhills 226 I found several records of baptisms for names coinciding with known children of William Anderson as recorded in the pocket Bible of his grandson William Anderson of Griquatown (1769-1852). In this case the citation read as follows "26 May 1717, George Anderson and Margaret Taylor from Wagley, had a child baptised Margaret. Witnesses were James Jameson and James Head" This coincides closely with the biblical recorded date of birth of Margaret of 23 May 1717, but in our family tree record, we had assumed that her father was William. However we have since ascertained that the Bible record does not record any name for the father, or mother of the 5 children. However when further records were found for the other siblings it becomes clearer that the father was indeed George and not William and a possible reason for the error is advanced herein under his name. Assuming that this is acceptable, Margaret's newly found baptismal date and place are entered herein.

3. George Anderson (George1) was born on 16 Jul 1719 1 and was christened on 21 Jul 1719 in Wagley, Newhills Aberdeen.1

Events:

• Historical: 1 Reference the historical event recorded for sister Margaret, the citation reads as follows:- " 21 July 1717 George Anderson in Wagley had a child baptised named George. Witnesses Gilbert and James Head." Note that James Head was also a witness for Margaret, thus supporting the sibling relationship.

4. William Anderson 2 3 (George1) was born on 14 Jul 1724 in Aberdeen, Scotland,2 3 was christened on 21 Jul 1724 in Wagley, Newhills Aberdeen,1 died on 26 Feb 1789 2 3 at age 64, and was buried in Bunhill Fields, London.4

Death: It has not been ascertained where William (1724) died, but is at present presumed to be here.

Events:

• Religion: 6 P26 of Source states that he was a Dissenter of the Independent Denomination and was burried in Bunhill Fields, the famous Non-Conformist burial ground in England.

• Occupation: 7 According to a scrapbook compiled by Alice Kitching, married to George Elliot Caldwall Anderson, there is a statenent by Maria Elizabeth Anderson that William was a silk merchant in partnership with Messrs Reid and Green in London.
Note that on the marriage certificate for William Anderson and Catherine Turner one of the witnesses was a Thomas Reid

• Historical: 1 Following on the Event recorded for Margaret, the citation found for William read as follows :- "George Anderson in Wagley had a child baptised named William. Witnesses: George Anderson and (illegible writing) in Salty(?) and Andrew Hace(?) Note that the witness, George Anderson, may not be the father but was probably a relative.

Marriage:

I located the Church near Liverpool Station in outside Bishopsgate and photos and a map are included herein.

Events:

• Occupation: England. 4 9 10 According to her son William at Pacaltsdorp, She was a talented artist, and was related to the famous English painter, Turner

• Historical: 6 P26 of source states that The great English landscape artist, Joseph Malford William Turner, was born in London on 23 April 1775. He was the son of a village barber, became famous and rich, and died in London on 19 Dec 1851, and was burried in St.Paul's Cathedral. The artistic talent later established by some of William and Johanna's grandchildren may be attributed to their illustrious artist relative.

A second source the Brainy Encyclopedia states as follows:-

J.M.W. Turner
Joseph Mallord William Turner, born in Covent Garden, London on April 23 (exact date
disputed)
1775, died December 19 1851. English Romantic landscape artist.
.. ..
His father WIliam was a Wig.
maker who later became a barber. The Grand Canal, Venice
His mother, Mary Marshall, a Painted 1835
housewife, became increasingly...,
mentally unstable during his early years, (perhaps in part due to the early death of Turner's younger sister in 1786). She died in 1804, having been committed to a mental asylum.
Since Catherine was born about 37 years before the Painter, and her family relation to him has still to be established, the possibility of subsequent generations from her being imbued with his great talent is somewhat tenuous, but cannot be discounted.

5. Peter Anderson (George1) was born on 15 Jun 1726 and was christened on 19 Jun 1726 in Wagley, Newhills Aberdeen.1 Another name for Peter was Patrick Anderson.1

Events:

• Historical: 1 Again following the Event recorded for Margaret I found another citation that read as follows:- "19 June 1726 George Anderson in Wagley had a child named Patrick. Witnesses Patrick Anderson and Robert Chalmers." However the biblical record names him Peter, but the local staff at the Family Society thought that in Scotland the two names are frequently regarded as synonymous (like John and James) and this rendering was acceptable. It is also possible that the name was confused with that of one of the witnesses, also Patrick. However, whilst the baptismal date seems to identify him as the biblically named Peter, it and the place can be accepted with confidence, and perhaps Patrick recorded as an alternate name.

6. James Anderson (George1) was born on 11 Sep 1731.

Events:

• Historical: 1 Following on with the event recorded for Margaret, I could not find a similar citation for James, so it might be presumed that he was not born or baptised in Wagley, Newhills, Aberdeen. However he has to be accepted as a sibling of Margaret and her other brothers.
