I just need to make one correction to what I wrote below and that is that apparently Granny & Grandpa did live (serve) at Hope Fountain for one year \endash that was in 1919¦¦My Mother Kath confirmed this as she knew theb year my Dad Alec was born Grandpa& Granny were living in Hope Fountain and came into Byo for the birth¦¦1919 was of course the one year they had between their first and second stints at Dombodema.

Shangani District was huge and centred on Nkai¦¦Life was very tough and isolated¦¦

There were times I believe when WW was the superintendent of all the work in Matabeleland which meant he visited all the LMS stations¦¦During the war years for example he looked after the work in both Dombodema and Shangani¦¦
His work involved overseeing both churches and schools and in some places clinics as well¦¦He did a lot of preaching & teaching and of course organizing, dealing with schools, personnel & with government¦¦He was I understand mostly involved with education & also in encouraging & mentoring African ministers/pastors and heads of the LMS schools, both Primary and Secondary¦¦Incredible work in pretty difficult circumstances sometimes¦¦He was fluent in Indebele and greatly loved and respected by the African people¦¦

• Mission: Served in Dombodema to retirement, 1942-1943, Dombodema, Zimbabwe.

• Historical: Peter Anderson, 2013, Australia.
