1. Alt Birth. 4 In answer to my question as to which Catherine was the daughter of Donald Munro and Mary Ann Munro, Katie de Haan, who researched these families in detail, gives the following as her considered opinion, which I accept unless further evidence finds to the contrary, if ever:-
think Catherine born 1834 to Donald Munro and Mary Ann Munro. Birthplace Kilmuir Easter, Ross-shire. The records are sometimes confusing but horizontal checks (of the siblings) show this to be where the (journeyman) family were probably from in Ross-shire. On some census records, Glenelg is given as birthplace for these Munros. However, deduction from records for Catherine's brothers suggests they were from Kilmuir Easter and there are baptisms there which seem to be for this family, including one for Catherine. There will be no proof of this, and assumption is risky, but I think it is reasonable to conclude that this is where journeyman mason Donald Munro and (Mary) Ann Munro were when most of their children were born, and before they moved via Glenelg to settle on Skye. It also explains why Catherine may have given Dingwall as birthplace on her marriage record.
Also, Barbara Munro is a name seen there in the records AND the place of residence for Donald and family when at least one of their children was born was, believe it or not, Barbaraville, Kilmuir Easter, Ross-Shire!"

bullet  Marriage:

1. Marriage. 2 Certificate 218 in the 1855 Register of the District Blythshire, Burrough of Glasgow, where the date of marriage was 13 Jun 1855. (See subsequent information of a different date.)

2. Marriage. 2 On the birth certificate of their son Archibald, No.126 Page 42 on the Register of West Greenock, Renfrew, their marriage date is given as 6 Feb 1855 and is probably the more correct. This date is also confirmed on his actual birth certificate No. 120 of the West Parish of Greenock, County Renfrew.
