Wakelin of 58, Stubbins-fold, who passed away on the previous Friday morning at the ago of 67 years. Deceased, who had been in failing health for about two years, followed his employment as a stockwright at Stubbins -Vale Woollen Mills, where he had worked for over fifty years, up to about a month ago.
Last Christmas he, along with others who had worked for the firm for fifty years, was made the recipient of a gift of £50 from Messrs. Porritt & Spencer. A native of Croughton, Northamptonshire, Mr. Wakelin came into the Ramsbottom district in his teens, and for the
past thirty years had resided in the house in which he died.
He was keenly interested in horticulture, and had been a member and and exhibitor at the shows promoted by the Edenfield Horticultural Society and the Ramsbottom Society ever since, they were instituted. At one time Mr. Wakelin was a member of the committee of the Ramsbottom Co-operative Society. He leaves six daughters.
