• Death. ¹ He died on the beryl mine he was working in the MToko district, the day before his birthday. His step-daughter Helena and her whole family were visiting at the time, and it was a very traumatic experience for all. Even the youngest who was 9, remembers it clearly to this day, over 50 years ago.

Marthinus married Helena Elizabeth Pretorius, daughter of Johannes Lodewikus Pretorius and Helena Elizabeth Smit. (Helena Elizabeth Pretorius was born on 28 Dec 1896 in Nylstroom, Northern Transvaal, Union Of South Africa, christened on 20 Apr 1897 in Waterburg, Transvaal, South Africa, died on 3 Jul 1974 in Gwelo, (Now Gweru) Zimbabwe and was buried on 6 Jul 1974 in Grave2482 Gwelo Cemetery Zimbabwe.)
